Reading Specialist/ K-3 teacher
I am proud to be a Wampus Cat! I graduated from Atoka High School in 1987. I graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with my bachelor’s degree in 1997. In 2010, I trained under Susan Barton and became Dyslexia Consultant. After 13 years and decided to go back to school, and I received my master’s degree in 2013, also from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
This is my 13th year at Atoka Elementary. I taught Kindergarten for three years, before becoming full time reading specialist. Four years ago, I began teaching K3, and I am the reading specialist for our school.
I began my career in 1997 at Texarkana Middle School as an ISS/TAAS teacher. I moved to Durant in 1998, to accept the Early Headstart Director position at Big Five. Next, I went to Farris Elementary for 5 years. I taught 1st grade, 3rd and 4th combined , and coached for 1 year.
I married Kelcey Edwards in August of 1999. We have 4 children: Kenley, Kaileigh, Destry, Kaden. We also have 2 grandchildren: Denver and Jase.
