Taggart Lockhart commenced his coaching career in 2015 as an assistant coach for basketball and baseball at Atoka Public School. Subsequently, he was appointed the head coach for boys' basketball at Howe High School; however, he served in that capacity for only one year before assuming the role of head coach for Talihina's boys' basketball program. Mr. Lockhart's five-year tenure as head coach at Talihina was highly successful, as he led the program to the state tournament twice and recorded over 90 wins during that period. Following his successful stint at Talihina, he returned to Atoka Public School as the athletic director and head coach for boys' basketball, where he is currently in his second year of service.

Jay Ray HS Girls Basketball Coach

Jay Ray- Girls

Coach Ray began his career as an assistant coach for both boys’ and girls’ basketball at Braggs in 2014. In the following year, he was promoted to boys’ head coach and faced many challenges, including two starters being in the hospital on opening weekend and numerous other injuries early on. Despite starting the season 0-11, Coach Ray persevered and was able to lead the team to a successful finish of 11-4 for the remainder of the season. This experience taught him valuable lessons, including the need for more time as an assistant.

Coach Ray then went on to serve as an assistant basketball coach at Kinta for both boys’ and girls’ basketball under a Hall of Fame coach. Their boys’ team won the gold ball at the Oklahoma State Tournament in 2019, which was a proud moment for Coach Ray as his twin boys were guards on the team. He then joined Gore Public Schools as the boys’ coach, and later took over the girls’ team as well, leading them to win more games than they had in the previous 16 seasons. Coach Ray's exceptional coaching skills were recognized by his peers, who named him Conference Coach of the Year for both boys’ and girls’ basketball.

Following his successful stint at Gore, Coach Ray served as an assistant coach for both the boys’ and girls’ teams at Pittsburgh for two years. In his first year there, the girls’ team won the State Championship, and made it to the semifinals the following year. This year, he was honored to be hired as the head coach for the Lady Wampus Cats, a team with a rich history of successful girls’ basketball. Coach Ray is excited to work with the team and further improve the program.
