Congratulations to Mrs. Christie Miller, the 7th and 8th grade science teacher at McCall Middle School, who was named a top three finalist for the Professional Oklahoma Educators Foundation Junior High/Middle School Educator Merit Award. On April 11, 2025, Mrs. Miller and her principal, Mrs. Kayla Moore, attended the POE Awards Banquet in Oklahoma City. The event honored 240 outstanding educators for their dedication to students and their commitment to enhancing education across Oklahoma.

Be sure to see your STATE CHAMPION Shadowcats in the 4th annual Shadowcat Invitational this Friday at the cafetorium for some Esports Action! This is the only in-person event we host as a program, and we would love to have a ton of supporters on hand! The Gate opens at 8 am on Friday, April 25th! Finals should start between 6-7 pm that evening! Hopefully, we will be in the Finals that evening!

Monday, April 21st 6th Grade Choir and the MMS Singers are traveling to Davis to Compete at Arbuckle Wilderness Funfest Choir Contest. The students are leaving at 7:30 AM and will be returning before the busses run in the afternoon. The students need their permission slips returned to Mrs. Pebworth or Ms. Wirtz before they get on the bus that morning. Any questions can be directed to jpebworth@atoka.org or awirtz@atoka.org.

We are thrilled to share that Mrs. Shanci Garison has been selected as a finalist for the 2025 Eastern Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, presented by the Aeros Awards! This incredible honor highlights Mrs. Garison’s dedication, passion, and impact in the classroom. As a finalist, she has been invited to attend the prestigious Aeros Awards Banquet on May 2, hosted by Julie Chin of 2 News in Tulsa. The event will culminate with the announcement of the Teacher of the Year, who will be awarded $1,000 for their classroom. Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Garison and cheering her on as she represents Atoka High School with excellence! 🥳📚🍎
